Design By Others (DBO), was started in September of 1999 to fill a noticeable void in the design industry. The two founding Owners, Gary Owen and Daniel Solie, both came from intensive design backgrounds in different fields. Gary Owen provides DBO with extensive experience in Custom Homes, Interior Cabinetry, Civil Design and Construction Methodology. Daniel Solie brought along his expertise in Commercial Buildings, Structural Means and Methods, Retail Tenants, Interior Detailing, Space Planning, and knowledge of ADA, Federal, State and Local Codes. In late 2007, Design By Others brought on a third partner, Jason Vizinni, along with his business, Pacific Cabinet Design. Jason brings years of custom cabinetry and millwork design experience. Jason has also relocated to the Spokane area to help our eastern Washington exposure and clientele. This completes, what we believe to be, the perfect "trifecta" in design.
The void, mentioned above, that needed filling was simple. There were very few design companies in Washington that could provide full design services at a low cost, let alone provide a Washington State Registered Architect to verify and endorse all plans as an option. By having a company working for you that has the experience to design all aspects of a project, it saves the client time, and more importantly money, by consolidating the design into one business.
DBO differs from an architectural firm in many ways. We are not a firm of Architects, but rather provide architects as subcontractors to our services. This allows us to reduce our overhead considerably, as well as get a reasonable price for architectural services. Since forming in 1999, DBO has worked on many high profile projects involving schools, restaurants, banks, State facilities, industrial warehouses, and custom homes, as well as volunteering time and designs to housing associations, and State entities.
On top of our design services, Design By Others provides many other services such as project management, Computer Aided Design (CAD)
Training, computer consulting, contractor referrals and graphic design. So whatever the design or construction need is, DBO can either provide its
services, or refer our clients to the proper companies that best fit their needs. Our motto, “Design Specialists”, does not seem to touch the vast array
of capabilities that the Owners and Employees possess. We are confident that Design By Others, can assist you in making your project a success
through accurate and functional design.
